FILM
PREMIERE

SUNDAY, JUNE 14
4PM - 7PM

COMMONWEAL
451 Mesa Road
Bolinas, CA

Join us in June for the long awaited premiere of the film version of "When Your Your Skin Calls You Home"

This is not simply a film premiere.

It is a gathering beneath the trees.

A ritual of memory, art, and return.

Together at Commonweal — held by sea air, open sky, and community — we will enter a story shaped by exile, longing, transformation, and the wild call home.

Bolinas weather does as it pleases.

Bring layers.

Bring an open heart.

Support Our Work

This event is also a fundraiser to support the completion and release of the film.

Together, our community originally raised over $12,000 to help bring the project to life. In the years since, we have continued investing deeply in the film’s completion — including editing, sound design, color correction, and the many unseen hours of artistic labor required to bring an independent project like this across the finish line.

Like the film itself, this work has been sustained by love, devotion, and the belief that some things are worth coming home to.

Funds raised through this premiere will help support the artists and collaborators who helped shape the film, recoup production costs, and carry the project into its next chapter- including festival submissions, outreach, marketing, and future screenings.

Please write “film” in the notes section when donating. If you would like a receipt,  include your email address.

Meet
Melusina Gomez

The visionary writer behind the film, Melusina Gomez, is an acclaimed theater artist and Curandera. Her innovative approach blends myth with contemporary issues, creating a film that resonates deeply with audiences seeking connection and healing.

The Heart of the Narrative

Inspired by the Selkie myth and Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés' 'Seal Skin, Soul Skin,' this film portrays the struggle of a Selkie caught between two worlds. Forced into an unfulfilling human life, she must navigate love, responsibility, and the quest to return to herself.

Meet the Filmmakers

Mer Aldao

Multidisciplinary andean artist dedicated to water. By combining poetic language, scientific curiosity and somatic intelligence, she opens creative and sensitive spaces provoking to spirit. Deeply informed by +15 years of filmmaking, nomadic and land based living, conscious mothering, improvisational arts, aquatic work and plant medicine. She currently lives in Argentinien mountains with her son, where she has her distillation laboratory, editing studio and a warm pool called La Aguada. You can see some of her internationally awarded film work here.

Lau Trejo

Lau Treko studied Visual Journalism at the Brooks Institute of Photography and Visual Arts at La Esmeralda in Mexico City. She approaches art as a primary responsibility — a way of coming closer to the nature of reality. Lately, her path has led her into the cultivation of plants and fungi, guided by ancestral traditions and deep ecology. Her practice moves across disciplines at once scientific, human, and spiritual: the quiet alchemy of art and earth medicine, transforming her, with humility, outside and within.
